Saratoga CERT May 2018 Newsletter

Saratoga CERT Academy began Tuesday, May 8^th. You can still encourage friends, family, and neighbors to sign up. Let them know that they can make-up the missed class at another Academy! Classes are generally 6pm to 9pm Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Community Center. IT IS NOT TOO LATE! If you are available to help during the CERT graduation on Saturday, May 26th, come and meet our new CERT members and lend a hand with their commencement.

Save the date of Thursday, September 6^th from 9am to 12noon for a partial exercise (Yellow Command). Mark your calendars; more to come.

Finally, we need some volunteers to help with the Sunday, May 20^th Safety Fair at West Valley College. I estimate we need three people to work 11:30 to 2:30 (set-up and greet) and three people to work 2:30 to 5:30 (greet and clean-up). If we can get some help (big truck with a hitch and a good driver), we can move our new CERT trailer over and display it during the Fair! Simply e-mail Michael Taylor mtaylor@saratoga.ca.us to sign up for a shift. We really need more folks for the later shift, thanks.

VOLUNTEER ROLE PLAYERS NEEDED FOR URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE MASS CAUSALITY INCIDENT IN MORGAN HILL – The volunteer victims will be placed in areas that may be confined or in tight spaces with low light. They will be laying in dirt, on broken concrete, or other debris. You will be rescued out of the rubble pile while secured to rescue devices. This is as real deal as it gets.
