Hazmat Recognition for CERTs
After a disaster such as an earthquake it is inevitable that there will be Hazardous Materials released. In order for CERT members in the field to remain safe, it is critical to be able to recognize when Hazardous Materials are present. This class is designed to provide CERTs with the ability to recognize Hazmat so that they can keep a safe distance and be able to pass important information up the chain of command. Some of the topics covered in the class will include:
- Common indicators of Hazmat
- Common types of buildings and vehicles which carry Hazmat
- The basic classes of Hazmat
- Placarding systems for buildings and vehicles
- Some basic Hazmat reference sources
This is the next class in a series of continuing education training for CERT Members. These classes are designed to be a refresher for basic CERT knowledge, allow us to get further in depth on important subjects, and also to provide training on pertinent subjects which are not covered in the basic CERT class. This class is offered free to CERT members. The same class is offered on two different dates to accommodate different schedules. When registering just select one of the two dates.
Dates: Wednesday, June 13, 2018, 6pm-9pm
Saturday, June 16, 2018, 9am-12pm
