Each year, we have one major disaster preparation exercise. We simulate a disaster in our community, and use all our CERT and communications skills to help our community members “survive”. All Saratoga CERT and RACES members should hold the entire morning to participate.
Details are in the Saratoga CERT October 2017 Newsletter.
Regular CERT membership meeting (all CERT members are welcome and encouraged to participate). Agenda to follow – topics will include an update on our new CERT divisions, planning for our October Saratoga emergency drill, a review of our performance on the September County drill, and preliminary discussion of our end of year holiday party.
Thursday, 28th September, 2017 – 17:00 – 19:00
Saratoga CERT members come together to refresh their skills and to learn new ones. This month we will review triage and medical operations, led by our own Lori Stafford.
The need for CERTs to learn disaster medical operations is based on two assumptions:
CERT medical operations can play a vital role in limiting death from trauma. In a disaster there may be more victims than rescuers, and assistance from medical professionals may not be immediately available. CERT personnel are trained to be part of disaster medical operations and to provide:
Regular Saratoga CERT leadership meeting (all Saratoga CERT members are welcome and encouraged to participate).
This month we will review and approve creation of new operational districts for Saratoga CERT and fill leadership roles in the city and division organizations. We will also review our IT/communication/recruiting efforts since our last leadership meeting. We will begin our budget planning for 2018.
We ask you to please RSVP if you intend to come. We only use the information to plan for seating and handouts.
The next event is a combination generator training, generator test, and cache cleanup. We will begin at the Petersen Base (Saratoga Prospect Center) in the south-west corner at 9:30 on Saturday, May 20th. We would like to ensure that our supply cache is clean, organized, and we have an inventory of all supplies in reasonably good order. If you can attend, we would love to see you. After we spend an hour here, we’ll then head over to the Corp Yard Base (next to the sand bag site in front of the city’s Corporate Yard). It would be nice if you brought your CERT backpack with you to this event to make sure you have a small sampling of a few pairs of nitrile gloves, gauze bandages, and such.
